Research commissioned by the Treasury concludes that public authorities are experiencing good overall performance and high levels of satisfaction in PFI projects. Some public sector contract managers however identified concerns with the transition to the operational stage.

The way government departments manage their PFI/infrastructure programmes plays a key role in achieving success and value for money. Departments have often asked how they compared with other government departments and their PFI programmes.  For these reasons, the NAO approached ten government Departments in October 2009 to invite them to share their experience in managing programmes.
